SERDANG, August 25 - Designers play a pivotal role in innovation within organisations or manufacturing organisations.

Prof. Ts. Dr. Khairul Aidil Azlin Abd Rahman CIDe, a lecturer from the Department of Industrial Design, Faculty of Design and Architecture (FRSB), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), said design management plays a crucial role in creating design works with aesthetic values.

"A designer should possess four essential attitudes in the practice of design management that contribute to knowledge exchange, namely feedback, exteriorisation, integration, and assimilation.

"These attitudes are considered vital for exchanging and engaging effectively in design knowledge exchange activities. The more innovation the designers create, the higher the value of those designers," he said during his Inaugural Address here today.

He said these attitudes could assist upper management in developing a comprehensive strategy for the knowledge exchange process, especially when dealing with designers.

Furthermore, he explained that designers create new knowledge and are involved in the exchange of implicit knowledge into explicit knowledge through the design process.

In addition, he urged designers to explore Asma'ul Husna spiritually, aiming to become respected, virtuous, and cultured designers.

He emphasised that meaningful values such as trust and spiritual significance contained in Asma'ul Husna have a positive impact on the social, practical, and personal well-being aspects of designers. - UPM
